Hydebank Young Offenders Centre, Belfast

This project has been completed by ESF in association with local architect firm Designs Matter, Belfast, featuring MMCite products from the new Signature Collection. The client required robust and anti vandal street furniture that looked attractive and worked well in the outdoor space to be used mainly by visitors. ESF supplied bus shelter, litter bins and bollards with built in ashtrays.

There are 120 playgrounds in the Inverness area however Whin Park was designed to be the “honeypot”. This busy and popular play area is used by local residents and visitors to the Highland capital.

Housed in a remarkable building, the Model School opened in July 1862 as one of a number of Model Schools dotted around Northern Ireland. Now it is a popular primary school successfully catering for the school needs of children from Newtownards and beyond. The Principal is Mr J Stewart.

The Department of the Environment are currently pushing local schools to give children a more hands on approach to Science and to get the children out into the open air more. St Bernadette's wanted to create an open space in a semi circle shape and decided that the MMCite range was the best option.

ESF were happy to supply 1no 1.8m Limba seat and 6no 1.8m Limba benches. All products are manufactured with galvanised steel painted RAL7016 Anthracite Grey with solid wooden lamellas.

New Play Area at Parkview School, Lisburn

ESF were thrilled to provide the design, delivery and installation of a new play area for Parkview Special Needs School, Lisburn. The teaching team at Parkview had a very hands on approach and worked closely with us throughout the project. The focal piece is the fantasy play Stockholm Castle complete with fort, draw bridge, crawling tube, slide and swings. The castle is complimented with a wheelchair roundabout, magic mirror and elephant piano.

Alan Lowry Becomes ILE Chairman

ESF Business Development Director, Alan Lowry, has been installed as the Chairman of the Institute of Lighting Engineers, Ireland. The AGM was held 22nd May at the Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick. The event was co sponsored by Charles Endirect and Environmental Street Furniture. It kicked off with two technical papers by David Woodcock and Bob Poole of Charles Endirect, followed by a delicious buffet lunch and then members were free to play golf or set off on a tour of Stormont Buildings and a boat trip on the River Lagan.

Despite growing concern about climate change, when it comes to making New Year's resolutions, Britons are more worried about losing weight than saving the planet. According to a YouGov poll, just 15 per cent of Britons have resolved to reduce their carbon footprint in 2008 compared to 38 per cent pledging to lose weight and 20 per cent aiming to make more money.

In May 2007, Environmental Street Furniture exhibited at the annual Airport Show in Dubai in conjunction with Invest NI. The show was attended by delegates from all over the Middle East and Far East as well as further afield. ESF offer a wide range of products suitable for airports both 'air-side' and 'land-side'. The show was very well attended and the ESF stand was staffed by Mohammed Louay Zinelabdin (ESF Middle East Sales manager) and Alan Lowry.
