Quays Shopping Centre gets a new Outside Playground Design

The Quays Shopping Centre, Newry is a busy and popular shopping centre receiving trade from both Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland. The centre management team decided to add a play area as a benefit for its customers and it has proved to be a big hit.

Outside Playground Design

The outside playground was designed, supplied and installed by Environmental Street Furniture (ESF). The outside playground area has a nautical theme. Playground surfaces feature blue wetpour used to mimic the ocean and yellow wetpour mimicking dry land - a sandy beach.

Extensive Range of Playground Equipment

An extensive range of playground equipment went into the design of the scheme.  Playground design features included a fantasy zone with a pirate ship, sand raft and fish spring rockers. The playground was skilfully design with varying age ranges in mind.  There is a fun toddler zone with a specially designed play unit. Features of the play unit include a bridge, tunnel and slide and separate toddler swings. For the older children there are larger swings, a seesaw and a lookout post tree house complete with slide.

Playground Seating & Litter Bins

 The design allowed space for children to sit down and relax. The playground seating area consists of children’s seats with novelty figure heads and a duck novelty litterbin, a dolphin novelty litterbin and a Genesis Simplicity collection park bench.
