The Gasworks fuelled Victorian Belfast's rapid industrial growth and its profits were the major source of funding for the building of the City Hall. It closed in 1988 and since then Belfast City Council and the Laganside Development Corporation have redeveloped the site to create public gardens with some commercial office space. The new entrance is flanked by sculptured columns depicting Belfast’s industry; past and future and many historic buildings remain including the Clock Tower.
Therefore, it was with great pride and excitement that ESF embarked on a new signage project in the Gasworks Business Park, Belfast. Incidentally, ESF had supplied the original signage some years ago that we were asked to replace. ESF liaised with local graphic designers Whitenoise Studios and local display systems company Blacksheep to produce a series of streetname plates, finger posts, directional signage and notice boards.
